The centre of Eger has a lot to offer. From the church, to the Egri castle and the "camera obscura". We recommend having a coffee in the csukrászda in the main shopping street.

The Castle of Füzer is kind of a climb, but once you're up there the view is amazing. It is here that the Hungarian crown juwels were hidden for the Turks in 1526.

Aggtelek
Aggtelek offers beautiful caves with special underground tours.
It is a 45 minute drive but well worth your while to visit the Hortobágy nationale park. Especially on days with horse shows and visits of the famoius Hungaria "Marha" cows. Check with the Tourinform in Mezökövesd for specific showdates.

The Zemplén is also called "The Switserland of Hungary". It is a great area with walking routes and cycling possibilities. Highlights are the porcelain factory of Hollóháza and the Füzér Castle. One of our favourites: Hotel Kökapu in the woods near Pálhaza.

There is a supermarket in the village as well, but if you need extra things we recommend the one in Bükkábrány.
The baker calls at the house everyday around 10.00 AM. If you missed him, next to the supermarket in Bükkábrány is a bakery with daily fresh bread.

Entertainment & Activities
The thermal pool of Bogács is our favourite for bathing. It has thermal waters, a normal pool and children's pools including paddling pool. Cheaper than most pools in the area.

The Poroszló Eco-centre is relatively new. It provides a great overview of the wildlife in Lake Tisza. Including fun & games for kids and the biggest sweetwater aquarium in Europa.
