Not only a thriving independent cinema which shows the latest film plus seasons of a specific genre or director's back catalogue but also a buzzy cafe bar serving drinks, light freshly cooked meals and coffees/cakes. If you ask for a plastic glass or takeaway cup you can take your drinks into the cinema with you. Great location for a meeting place as at the top of Lothian Road near Princes Street.

Not a simple park, more an experience of the countryside within striking distance of the city. You can't hear any city sounds when you are walking through the wooded ravine next to a tumbling burn. Take one of the many paths upwards and come out on top of Blackford Hill for panoramic views of the City.

Beautiful, peaceful space in the City. Hot houses, alpine collection, Chinese Garden, mature trees, landscaped gardens, exhibitions, cafes. Free (but donation welcome) but entrance fee for the hot houses. Number 23 bus from Morningside (5 minutes walk from the flat) takes you right there.
