Food Scene

Fun atmosphere, craft coffee, great food. Delightful location in an old house. Sit in one of the many rooms and get work done, or sit on the porch overlooking 5th avenue and people watch. Great spot for breakfast, lunch or a casual dinner or dessert.

This is my favorite for lunch! Sweet spot off 4th avenue, fun little funky deli with mismatched shabby chic furniture. Excellent salads, paninis, soup and sandwiches. Make sure you go down the 'hallway' for one of the best cupcakes in town- Ivey Cake!

Best cupcakes in town- tucked into a literal "hole in the wall" Ivey Cake will not disappoint! She does have a larger shop in Brentwood that includes seating, either way, these are the best cupcakes for miles around!

Love Red Pony, I highly recommend for a nice dinner out. Casual, but still 'high end' without breaking the bank. Never ha a bad meal here, and the waitstaff is always top notch- very knowledgeable about their wines, courteous and attentive.

My favorite spot for appetizers and drinks- sit in the window 'bar' and watch the hustle and bustle of Main Street. Highly recommend queso with brisket dip, guacamole and their pickle chips! Featured on Guy Fieri's "DIner's Drive In's and Dives

Gray's on Main is a beautiful building- a former pharmacy that has been converted into a multi-storied restaurant and bar. Gray's is well known in the area for their amazing craft cocktails. Sit in the bar and watch as the bartenders whip up their amazing concoctions from their own house-made bitters, tonics and syrups. Live music most nights, starts around 9 pm.

Nothing compares to a 100 layer donut from 5 daughters Bakery. Make sure if you go on a weekend you arrive VERY early, because the line will stretch very far... These donuts are stuff of legend. Seasonal offerings, fun pairings. They also offer vegan/paleo donuts, but IMO these pale in comparison to the 100 layer- think croissant marries a donut...

Highly recommend a tour of all three historic homes in Franklin- but recommend starting here- where the battle began/ was mainly fought. Then go to Lotz and finish with Carnton Plantation- the jewel of the three. Check Groupon for discounted tickets.

If you are only able to see one of the three homes central to the battle of Franklin, I recommend Lotz. This tour covers all the major points of interest from the battle to the personal stories of those who were caught in the crossfire. They also house the most artifacts from the battle field. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and are able to seamlessly accept new guests as they arrive while tours are already in progress. Check Groupon for discounted tickets.

Our iconic Main Street is something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Take a day to explore the shops up and down Main Street, and quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger at any number of great eateries found all along the street! I recommend 55 south, Gray's, Franklin Mercantile.
