This is a good choice for when you don't feel like cooking! Above average Thai food, and reasonable prices. They also deliver if over $40 I think. I will leave menu on kitchen table

This is a beautiful French inspired cottage in a garden setting which is a great breakfast/brunch destination out in the Hunter Valley. Make a day of it and go winetasting after.

This is the local community garden for Newcastle East. It is well worth a look - come down here for your herbs for dinner and to have a chat to Chris the garden coordinator. Kids love it too!

This is a beautiful and popular park for a picnic. I recommend making your way down to the 'Bogie Hole' which is a very old ocean bath cut into the side of the rock - quite spectacular

This is a great park in the middle of the city. It has kids playgrounds and lots of areas for a BBQ or picnic. The animal and bird enclosures are very thoughtful and kids just love wandering through

The ferry ride over here is a good idea which little ones love - and very cheap. Stockton is also to walk around and has nice beaches. The sand dunes near here are amazing.

I haven't been here but it is very popular with kids, and you could combine it with a day trip to Port Stephens and Murrays Brewery!

This is a beautiful hotel/bar looking out over the harbour. It isn't open very late but is the perfect setting for a sun downer.

There are not too many places on Honeysuckle I would recommend but MoneyPenny is a casual chic place looking out over the beautiful working harbour - great for a sundowner!

Sightseeing
Mount Tomaree and Shoal Bay are simply beautiful and a fun day out wither without kids. The bay is really calm and safe and the nearby Mt Tomaree is a good walk and view. On the way back visit Oakvale
