Food Scene

The food is great and the vibe is great! I recommend booking a reservation via OpenTable if you know your plans in advance as they tend to get quite busy. If you're looking for an impromptu dinner though, they do have a huge bar area with high top tables and access to the full dinner menu that is kept available for walk-ins. My personal favorite menu items are the Super Bueno Bowl and their delicious Salmon Taco! They also have a large outside patio if you prefer to be outdoors after a long day inside!

Redwood Grill is just a 20 minute walk from the house or a 4 minute drive. They have great "New/Traditional American" food, delicious drinks, and a low-key vibe. There's table seating as well as a small bar area. I recommend the Red Morton Mule and their crispy brussels sprouts!

Vesta's food is truly amazing. It's primarily a pizza place, but their veggies and salads are also incredible. They only serve wine and beer, so it's not the place to go for cocktails but the food is the best around. They have a super cute outdoor patio and they take very few reservations, so walk-ups are easy but there's often a 45 min+ wait. So worth it though! Fun Silicon Valley Fact: Vesta is also a favorite spot for Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan.

Drinks & Nightlife

Blacksmith is the best bar in downtown Redwood City. They often have a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights, but no dance floor. Occasional live music on Thursdays. They have a cool outdoor patio and great cocktails.

If you're willing to venture over to Palo Alto, The Old Pro is a classic Stanford hangout. It's a casual sports bar with a very fun vibe and mechanical bull. Often there's a $10 cover after about 9pm, but that includes your first drink.

Nola is a bar AND restaurant. It's one of the few fun bars in the area, so I classify it as a bar here but the food is awesome too. Nola brings a bit of New Orleans to Palo Alto, with a menu of Creole, Cajun, and Southwestern cuisine. The bar fills up on weekend nights and the restaurant is often packed. It's located next door to The Old Pro.

The Patio is an experience. It's just about the only dance floor around, so if that's what you're looking for it's definitely worth checking out!

The Stanford Dish is an awesome ~3.5 mi hike with views of the whole Bay Area. This is one of my favorite things to do in the area.

Shopping

Stanford is the best upscale shopping around. In addition to high-end stores, they have tons of great options for food. I especially recommend Pressed Juicery for their freezes! (They're like frozen yogurt made from fresh pressed juices...)
