This is a fully restored 1880 farmhouse five min. from Montague Retreat Center, 20 min. from Amherst and 25 min. to Northampton. Our house has modern amenities: radiant concrete floors, high end appliances/countertops, a steam shower and 7 ft, radiant heated copper bath tub. Lots of light, open spaces, cathedral ceilings and an outdoor playset for kids. The house is set on 3/4 of an acre with lots of beautiful gardens and is located near Montague Center, where there are restaurants and shops.

The 1770 House

Fall is the most dramatic time here. At the end of a dirt road with no cars or people you are one with nature. Ask to see if the pool and outdoor spa are open. In March and April our rates are discounted 20%. Enjoy our country retreat with breathtaking mountain and valley views. This expanded 1770 farmhouse gives you 4,500 sq. ft. of space for large family and friend get togethers. The house overlooks the Green River Valley with views of Vermont. There are six bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Our lovingly designed guest suite is situated 17 miles from the UMass Amherst Campus, 8.2 miles from Northfield Mount Hermon. We are between downtown Turners Falls and Greenfield. If you're looking for a private and bright suite with beautiful natural light and a modern bohemian feel this is the space for you! Please note that there is a kitchenette but not a full kitchen. Turners Falls is one of 5 villages in the town of Montague. It's a vibrant, diverse area that runs along the CT River.

If you enjoy cycling the bike path abuts the back of the property! Quiet neighborhood, pet and kid friendly one block from downtown Florence. Look Park is a mile down the bike path. Built in 1870, this lovely little house was where George Curtis edited Harper's magazine, wrote essays on transcendentalism , and argued for women's suffrage ( A recent guest informs me that George Curtis helped Thoreau build his cabin on Walden Pond ) The house has since sheltered painters, librarians, and poets.
