My great grandparents, Swan and Johanna Johnson immigrated to America in the 1860's, found this land which was similar to Sweden. They raised their family here. Approximately 65 Swedish families settled in this community, became to be know as the "Swede Hills". We just received the Hoosier Homestead Award from Indiana celebrating the Sesquicentennial Award. You won’t forget the peaceful surroundings of this rustic destination. Enjoy wildlife, kayaking, fishing, campfires, horses, hiking and games. We also have a sauna and a hot tub available on the premises There is Roku TV and WIFI in the cabin. You can sit on the front porch and enjoy the swing or rocking chairs and listen to the night sounds or chat with friends. You can also enjoy a campfire and cook over the open fire on our tripod grill. We have 2 other cabins and our cozy apartment listed.

Charming Hillside Country Home

This beautiful mid-century house was designed and built by my father. My husband’s parents, Amy and Bob, bought it from my parents’ estate and renovated it. It is filled with light, books and original art. Being inside feels like being outside. It is furnished much as it was when my in-laws moved out, with many of Amy’s paintings. It is not a new or fancy house, but it is authentic and quite a splendid example of mid-century architecture! I hope that you love it as much as I love to share it!

Our space is in a small but fantastic town, perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers. Rensselaer's unique art scene is renowned; check out over two dozen murals that grace our revitalized downtown. Play disc golf at Brookside Park-we have discs for guests' use! Our listing fee is what it is-no separate "cleaning fee." We'll always leave you with homebaked goodies, & make sure there are farm fresh eggs in the fridge. The address to the apartment is 104 E. Washington ST. From Washington St., go thru the black door next to Yanni's restaurant. Go up the stairs and the apartment is on your right. You will see an AirBNB sticker above the door. I will send a code to access the apartment the day of your arrival. Please note, Parking is prohibited on Washington St. from 2AM-4AM. You can park at the Earl Schroffner museum. Their address is 122 N. Dixie Hwy, which is 1 block North of the apartment.
