Unterkünfte in Shepherdstown
Leeland , at 5011 Kearneysville Pike, adjoins Shepherdstown, the oldest town in West Virginia, full of the arts, restaurants, parks and civil war sites. You’ll love the small rental house's outdoor space, gardens, cozy historic charm and recent remodeling with HVAC, full kitchen and bath. You are in the country, yet only a stone's throw to downtown Shepherdstown. A romantic retreat for couples, it also could accommodate a young child or two.
The Lee family's 800 sq. ft law office was converted to a dwelling in 1864, and completely remodeled in 2015 for airbnb. It retains its historic charm, with narrow stairs, sloping ceilings upstairs, and low headroom in a couple of places. Downstairs is a fully equipped kitchen and living room with dining table, day bed, armchairs, TV. Upstairs is the full bath and bedroom with queen bed, armchairs, and work table. It sits 900 feet back from the road, amidst 12.5 acres of farmland and gardens. The rental is an entire little house with excellent privacy and separation from the adjacent main house, begun in 1866.
Leeland is an estate set in farmland, right on the edge of historic Shepherdstown. You have the best of both worlds: a quiet, charming dwelling surrounded by gardens, within walking distance of Shepherdstown's restaurants, shops, music and theater. The Potomac river and C&O canal are barely a mile away, and a little further afield are Sharpsburg/Antietam national park (4 miles); Harper's Ferry national park (10 miles), and other historic sites and lovely countryside.

Thanks for checking out the bus. It has been a joy to meet so many nice people since we listed it on Airbnb. The bus is just a short walk from our house where you can use the bathroom and kitchen if you need. Thanks again!
It's a 1997 school bus, not too long, not too short. There is a sofa, table, woodstove and queen bed. There is ambient light and electricity on the bus as well as several candles. It has a wood floor and wood wall siding. It's in a private area of my yard and in the warmer weather there is a deck attached to the bus for relaxing. Aside from the bus, my bathroom is shared and my kitchen can be used also if requested. It depends on what the guest seems to prefer. I have had dinner with guests and taken them on tours of the area, picked them up from the train, given rides, etc. Many guest prefer to just have some privacy in the country and I respect that totally. I also work a lot which can hinder my availabilityon certain days. I live on a country road and my neighbors are like family.

  • Ein toller Aufenthalt! Wir hatten keine Probleme und viel Spaß. Der Holzofen ist super für den Winter. Danke Will und Sabrina !!

Relax and escape to the peace and quiet by the Potomac river, and wake to beautiful romantic views of the river and mountains, in this romantic 200 square foot tiny house situated on 2.5 acres, 450 feet of river front land. Explore and partake of all the activities on the river and surrounding area, just 1 mile from Shepherdstown. Fish, bike, kayak, tube, or just sit by the river and watch the birds and wild life. Read by the river or in the quiet comfort of the house, w/ some wine on us.
This is a 1940s refurbished fisherman's cabin. It was likely built in or about 1942 as the original electric fixtures are from that date, we had to modernize them though as they don't meet current code. It is very likely that the structure was built to replace an older wooden structure in the same location. There is electricity but no running water, water dispenser is provided. NOTE that the bathroom is a pit outhouse located nearby. On the west side of the 200square foot room, you will find a very comfortable Queen sized bed with CertiPUR foam mattress and lots of pillows. There are several blankets. At the foot is a WWII mail crate restored and converted to a trunk that was found in the tiny house, used to store extra linens and blankets. Above the headboard is a fantastic decorative shelf made from river maple that fell by the river in front of the building. Right in front of the bed is a window affording great views of the river. On the east side of the building is the sitting area with kitchen cabinets. The counter is made from old reclaimed barn door complete with the clasp. The shelves above are from the from of the barn door complete with hinges. Equipped with utensils, a microwave, dorm fridge, and crock water dispenser. A table for two in front of another river facing window. Outside is a small porch with two comfortable chairs and BBQ, that has a commanding view of the river. The cabin and this sitting area are nestled back into the wooded hillside loved by a plethora of songbirds and woodpeckers. To the East of the porch is a small three seasons outdoor shower and sink. The shower is fed by cold water but has a 5.5 gallon solar warming tank attached (long showers will get cold). NOTE that we will be shutting off the outdoor shower before the first frost. Home sits on 2.5 acres adjacent to the Potomac river with C&O national historical park across the river. This section of the river is usually shallow and often can be walked across, near Packhorse Ford. Between the property and Shepherdstown is the historic battlefield of Shepherdstown with walking path and markers. Nestled to the other side of the tiny house is the very clean and comfortable pit toilet (out house). It is in the original location but all rebuilt with modern seat and plenty of privacy, well vented and stocked with hand sanitizer.l
The home is a short bike ride or drive to historic downtown Shepherdstown. You will go by some historic ruins and Shepherdstown Battlefield, on the way by Packhorse Ford. Close to NCTC, Antietam, C&O canal and Harpers Ferry.

Immerse yourself in history as our guest at the National Register listed Stone House Mansion (1757). Home to Revolutionary War, French and Indian War, and War of 1812 officers, statesmen, and Congressmen. Close to Historic Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, & Antietam National Battlefield. The apartment has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The basement level apartment is ideal for couples, families, solo adventurers, and business travelers (available for extended stay).
The apartment in the basement level has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a single bed with an electric fireplace, living room with big colonial fireplace (non-functioning) and a TV and a dining table, bathroom with claw-foot tub/shower, and a kitchen with all amenities and washer and dryer and dishwasher. Historically, the living room in the basement level was a kitchen where the large fireplace was used for cooking. The queen bedroom is air-conditioned in the summer. The rest of the basement apartment is not air-conditioned but stays fairly cool in the summer. Next to Bedroom 2 is a dressing room/storage room that also has a sitting area and a double sofa bed for occasional company. This house is steeped in American history. The following is condensed from the National Register of Historic Places listing: The Stone House Mansion was constructed in 1757. It is one of the oldest stone structures in Berkeley County. The Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with the Hite vs. Fairfax lawsuit, which revolved around the question of whether colonial government or English government had the authority to grant land. The suit is significant in the interpretation of the arguments and as a precursor of the concepts and concerns that eventually led to the Revolution. It was for these very beliefs that the colonies rebelled. The stone house is mentioned in the suit and is included in a survey conducted as part of the evidence. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with Captain John Strode, who constructed Stone House Mansion. Captain John Strode fought with the Continental Army and was the founder of Strode’s Station in Kentucky. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with General Adam Stephen, who founded the city of Martinsburg. Stephen was second-in-command to George Washington in the French and Indian War and fought under George Washington in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War with the rank of Major General. After the war, he served as a delegate to the 1788 Virginia Convention and spoke persuasively in favor of adopting the U.S. Constitution. Stephen purchased Stone House Mansion from Captain John Strode in September 1789. The land was to be inherited by his daughter, Ann Stephen. Ann Stephen was married twice. Her first marriage in 1779 was to Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge, who was second cousin to Martha Washington and grandson of Virginia Governor Alexander Spotswood. Captain Dandridge served as an Aide-de-Camp on the staff of General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. Captain Alexander Spotswood Dandridge died in 1785. He and Ann had one son, Adam Stephen Dandridge. Ann’s second marriage in 1787 was to Major Moses Hunter, Revolutionary War veteran and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Stone House Mansion was inherited by Major Moses Hunter’s son, Lieutenant David Hunter, who was killed at the battle of Williamsburg on the St. Lawrence River in the War of 1812. Stone House Mansion was then inherited by the granddaughter of General Adam Stephen, Anne Hunter. Anne Hunter married Captain Henry St. George Tucker, who fought in the War of 1812 and was a U.S. Congressman, a member of the Virginia Senate, lawyer, judge, and law professor at the University of Virginia. Tucker County, West Virginia was named for Henry St. George Tucker. Stone House Mansion is significant for its association with James Monroe VanMetre and his son Isaac David Sylvester VanMetre, both prominent businessmen and farmers from a very prominent early settlement family in the Shenandoah Valley.
This quiet area is part of what was once a large historic farm, but now only 10 acres of it remain. Stone House Mansion is within a 30-minute drive to historic destinations in Harpers Ferry, WV, Winchester, VA, and Sharpsburg, MD. Visit the nearby Charles Town Racetrack and Casino. Also within a 30-minute drive visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, and biking or hiking the C&O Canal and Appalachian Trail. It is convenient to the highway. The bike path between Charles Town and Martinsburg West Virginia borders the property. The State has placed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path! The Coast Guard facility, IRS Computing Center, and V.A. Medical Center are within a mile from here. A convenience store and gas station is a half-mile from the house.

My home is in a quiet wooded area outside of town. You won’t find sidewalks, streetlights, or manicured lawns here. Instead you will find a natural, woodsy setting, occasional deer in the yard, and a million stars on clear nights.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, reading area, living room, and bathroom, as well as the deck. My house is not new, and everything isn’t perfect, but it’s comfortable and welcoming, and quite colorful.
Ten minutes from Shepherdstown, 15 minutes from Harpers Ferry and Charles Town, 20 minutes from Antietam National Battlefield Park.

Semi-isolated 1940s cedar-shingled WV cabin with midcentury modern furnishings in peaceful wooded setting. Lovely spot for hanging out or working. Queen bed on main floor. Kitchenette. Waffle station. Fire pit & grill. Front porch with rockers. Outdoor patio dining area. River access 0.1 mi for kayaking, canoeing or swimming. Convenient to Shepherdstown & Harpers Ferry. Modern bathroom with tiled walk-in shower, barn door, vessel sink and heated floor. Echo Dot + CD player & CD library.
COVID-19 NOTICE TO GUESTS: As of May 21, West Virginia is lifting its requirement for out-of-state guests to self-isolate. Masks are recommended for all trips out in public to protect the community and are required for people who are symptomatic. Keep in mind that state rules are in constant flux during the pandemic. ABOUT KNOTT CABIN Built in the 1940’s, Knott Cabin is a cedar-shingled cabin in the woods, a short walk on a rural road from the Potomac River. This homey cabin is updated with stylish mid-century modern furnishings. A queen bed is located on the roomy main floor, and 2 twin beds are available in the loft. Enjoy a contemporary bathroom with tiled walk-in shower, rainshower head and spray wand, barn door, vessel sink and heated floor. The cabin also features a cozy west-facing front porch with rocking chairs, and a shady side patio with table/chairs, fire pit and charcoal grill. Since many restaurants are closed during the pandemic, we've added a camp style two-burner gas stock next to the grill. You’ll be close to Shepherdstown (10 min. drive) and not far from Harpers Ferry (20 min. drive). Highlights from Recent Reviews : “This was perfect…. The photos on the website are 100% accurate. The place was spotless. There was nothing we needed. Everything about it was super comfortable and relaxing. Our favorite “touches” were the rocking chairs on the front porch, the awesome shower, the Echo Dot, the coffee decanter, and I could just go on and on…” — Dave, June 2019 “What a beautiful place to stay... peaceful while only a short drive to either Shepherdstown or Harper’s Ferry! The cabin is very clean & decorated beautifully with extra touches like a waffle station, ingredients for s’mores, coffee & great smelling soap & shampoo. You will not be disappointed! We would definitely stay here again!” — Jennifer, June 2019 The kitchen includes microwave, convection toaster oven, blender, mini-fridge, and a waffle maker with mix provided! Complete coffee and tea station including locally roasted whole beans, grinder, Chemex and electric kettle (traditional coffeemaker too). There is no stove/oven inside the cabin. This is a rural area, so cell phone service is spotty. Bring your tablet/laptop; high speed wireless internet is fast enough to stream music or video. A TV monitor is available with and HDI cable and a Chromecast to facilitate watching content from your streaming device. Note that the loft with 2 twin beds is reached by steep stairs that are open and not easily gated. The cabin is probably not appropriate for children under age 3. No pets please.
Enjoy a scenic 10 minute drive along the Potomac River to the fine dining and shopping in quaint Shepherdstown. Easy 20 minute drive to historic attractions and river activities in Harpers Ferry. Hike or bike the C&O Canal Towpath. Canoe, kayak or go tubing on the Potomac River (we'll provide river access instructions at the cabin). Check the Shepherdstown Visitor Center website for details about all the great things going on in our town. We love our CATF theater guests! The cabin sits on nearly 3 acres of woodland but does sit next to a road that serves a few residents of the nearby riverfront property. You may hear cars driving by, as well as their 4-wheel ATVs which can sound louder and faster.

Jetzt will ich eins.

A restored 1700's log cabin in a convenient location to Shepherdstown and surrounding attractions. One bedroom upstairs with a queen sized bed. One pull out sofa in the downstairs living area. In the summer of 2018, we have added an intimate brick patio area suitable for alfresco dining and for fireside sitting. It is peaceful. It is beautiful. You will not want to leave.
This is an authentic 1700’s Log Cabin which has been completely restored, adding all of the conveniences of 21st century living, including very adequate heating and cooling. It does have a fireplace, but it is only decorative. It cannot be used. There is lovely brick patio complete with fire pit. Guests are encouraged to enjoy this space as weather permits.

COVID-19 NOTICE TO GUESTS: West Virginia is lifting its requirement for self-isolation of out-of-state travelers on May 21. Masks are recommended for all trips out in public to keep our community safe and are required for people who are symptomatic. Keep in mind that state rules are in constant flux during the pandemic. Be aware that the AT and Park Service parking lots at trail heads are all closed, and the pedestrian bridge over to the Maryland Heights trail has not yet been repaired. These are not normal times in Harpers Ferry. ABOUT CAMP HIKE-n-BIKE The tiny house is inspired by 1940s Park Service cabins but with modern comforts and amenities, a rain showerhead, a brand new Allswell bed, full insulation with air conditioning (and heating for the cooler months). The tiny cabin is new construction, built on the same property as our B&B (note our other listings on Airbnb). A garage sits between the tiny cabin and the main house on one side. There are trees/gardens on the other three sides. Beyond the trees are other neighborhood homes and a narrow, quiet street on one side. During this period of COVID-19 concern, guests will be given self-entry instructions. The cabin is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between guest stays. You will not need to interact in person with either the hosts or any other guests. Wifi and Echo Dot. A small TV monitor is available with an HDMI cable if you want to hook up your own streaming device. Note that, it being a tiny cabin, we had room for only a 40-gallon water heater. If there are two of you staying, you may want to take quicker showers or allow a little time between showers so that the second person gets enough hot water. We permit a third guest, including children, but please remember that this is a tiny cabin, and the sleeping configuration is one king or two twins. There is also a cot and sleeping bag on the screened porch that could be used on warmer nights. Parking spaces are located in front of the main house. You will then need to walk around the house to the back of the property to access the tiny cabin. A barndoor style gate just next to the tiny cabin exits to a side street. It's convenient for access when walking or bicycling, but no parking is available near this gate. We accept government rates! Please inquire if you are in town on government business.
The tiny cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood in the Upper Town Harpers Ferry Historic District, away from the heavily touristed area and close to restaurants and a bar. Also, we're far enough away from the train tracks that the whistles are more of a distant wail. The property is visually private but is next to a side street. You may hear neighbors visiting with each other out in the street during the day. Because we're in a small town, we like to stay friendly with our neighbors. We know you'll be respectful. Quiet hours (10 p.m. - 7 a.m.) will be strictly enforced and noise complaints from neighbors will result in a negative review for the rare inconsiderate guest. We're close to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Potomac & Shenandoah Rivers, C&O Canal Trail, AT, Amtrak train station, Storer College, & Loudoun County wineries. Check in on Sundays may be delayed until 4 pm. The main residential section of the Town of Harpers Ferry (where our tiny cabin is located) is over half a mile up a fairly steep hill from the rivers and the National Historic Park area (and also the C & O Canal Towpath). Through-cyclists on the trail, especially, should be aware of the strenuous ride up. There are NO surveillance cameras on the property. We provide a map of walking routes to nearby views of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers, as well as restaurant lists and info on local attractions.

Nestled over 10 acres of retired farmland, “Ginger" is one of three “tinys” at Tiny Haven. She’s 200 square feet of tiny luxury, featuring everything you need in a house - full kitchen, bathroom, and living area, outdoor seating, and your own private fire pit. Tiny Haven is very close to the C&O Canal, Harpers Ferry, wineries, breweries, Maryland Heights, and the AT. Light breakfast items, coffee, s'mores, and snacks provided! (Check us out by searching "tiny haven living" on the internet)
*Full Kitchen* Cook your meals on the two-top propane stovetop, convection microwave oven, and toaster. Full-size Smeg fridge (includes a small freezer). Pots and pans, plates, bowls, utensils, and other cookware are also in the kitchen. Enjoy your coffee with the french press or pour over. Light breakfast items like eggs, bagels, milk, cereal, yogurt, and other snacks are provided. *Lofted Bedroom* Cuddle up in the queen size temperpedic bed and gaze at the stars through the skylight. *Daybed/couch* Twin size daybed for sleeping or lounging (includes lots of pillows and extra sheets/bedding) *Bathroom* Enjoy a shower in the deep stock tank tub/shower. Easy to use composting toilet that naturally separates the urine from the solids so there is no smell. Instructions are provided. *Heat/AC* Mini-split system for either heat or AC. A portable fan and an electric fireplace are also in the tiny. In the winter, we do recommend slippers, as the floors in any tiny on wheels or rv can be on the cooler side. *Outdoor area* Cook a meal on the propane grill and enjoy a fire at your private fire pit! We just ask that guests close all the windows and the doors to the tiny when having a fire, since the firepit is close to the tiny house and we don't want smoke to get inside :) *Disconnect* This tiny is a great place to disconnect. There is no Wifi on site and cell signal can be low (although we have Verizon and can still make phone calls, text, post on social media, just with a slower load time). *Private retreat* You have the entire tiny to yourself. There are other tinys and guests at this location. It is most of the time very quiet, but you may hear people talking/playing music in the distance.
We are very close to hiking - Appalachian Trail, Weaverton Cliffs, and Maryland Heights, as well as the C&O Canal Towpath (walking, running, biking) and a couple river guide places (tubing, rafting). The Adventure Center is just across the bridge on 340 (about a 10 minute drive) Also just a 15 minute drive (or walk over the footbridge) to historic Harpers Ferry WV. Harpers Ferry Brewery and Breaux Vineyards are also quite close (within 15 minutes).

Charming Studio Guest Suite located 5 minutes from Historic Harpers Ferry and 10 minutes to Charles Town/Hollywood Casino. Close to Virginia and Maryland wineries and Breweries. Hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and rafting all close by on the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. Rural neighborhood off the beaten path. Please note that there are steep stairs leading to this second floor suite and it is not handicap accessible. This is a non-smoking property.
Wonderful new build studio suite on the detached garage. All new inside and out !
Please note that our neighborhood is rural. The back yard is home to lots of deer who think it’s their yard! And the neighbor “cat lady” takes in lots of cats. Don’t be surprised if one is on the deck when you come out but don’t let them in! They will over run us!!!

Immerse yourself in history as our guest at the National Register listed Stone House Mansion (1757). Home to Revolutionary War and War of 1812 officers, statesman, and Congressmen. Close to Historic Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, & Antietam National Battlefield. It has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Our house is ideal for couples, families, solo adventurers, business travelers (available for extended stay). 1 to 6 bedrooms available- priced per bedroom.
This bright sunny bedroom is in the 1905 addition to the house, on the second floor. It has a double bed. It was known as the "Sleeping Porch", a special room for many generations of the VanMetre family to enjoy the summer breezes coming in from the many windows along two sides of the room. It has a nice view of the barns and other farm outbuildings.
It is convenient to the highway and less than a mile to a supermarket. The new bike trail between Charles Town and Martinsburg, West Virginia borders the property. The State has placed a historical marker about Stone House Mansion on the bike path!

Enjoy your glamping getaway in “Gypsy,” the 1976 renovated Airstream! Nestled over 10 acres of retired farmland, “Gypsy” is one of three “tinys” at Tiny Haven. This vintage camper features a full kitchen, wet bath, king bed, large covered deck, and private fire pit. Tiny Haven is very close to the C&O Canal, Harpers Ferry, wineries, breweries, Maryland Heights, and the AT. Light breakfast items, coffee, s'mores, and snacks provided! (Check us out by searching "tiny haven living" on the internet)
*Full Kitchen* Cook your meals on the four-top propane stovetop or small toaster oven. Decent size RV-fridge (includes a small freezer). Pots and pans, plates, bowls, utensils, and other cookware are also in the kitchen. Enjoy your coffee with mini-coffee maker or pour over. Light breakfast items like eggs, bagels, milk, cereal, yogurt, and other snacks are provided. *California King Size Bed* Cuddle up in the massive bed. Bed has lots of windows surrounding it with blinds for late-morning sleeping :) *Dining Area* Enjoy your meals or games at the dining table that comfortably seats up to four people. *Bathroom* Rinse off with a hot shower in the wet bath area. Easy to use composting toilet that naturally separates the urine from the solids so there is no smell. Instructions are provided. *Heat/AC* The airstream is nice and toasty in the winter and cool in the summer due to the furnace, space heater, rooftop AC, and portable fan. In the winter, we do recommend slippers, as the floors in any tiny on wheels or rv can be on the cooler side. *Outdoor area* Sit outside on the deck under the covered pavilion, cook a meal on the propane grill, and enjoy a campfire in your own private fire pit! We just ask that guests close the door/screen door to the airstream to help prevent bugs from getting inside :) *Disconnect* This airstream is a great place to disconnect. There is no Wifi on site and cell signal can be low (although we have Verizon and can still make phone calls, text, post on social media, just with a slower load time). *Private retreat* You have the entire airstream to yourself. There are other tinys and guests at this location. It is most of the time very quiet, but you may hear people talking/playing music in the distance. The airstream is about 300 yards from a large house (owned by our neighbor) that is rented to groups. Most groups are courteous and quiet.

The guest house abuts the historic Michael Yeasley stone house along a common patio in the rear.
Shepherdstown also is home to Shepherd University, the temporary posting of 4,000-plus students that was established in 1871. It is a 75-minute drive from Baltimore and Washington, D.C., a stone's throw from the Battle of Antietam grounds in Sharpsburg, Md., the Hollywood Casino of Charles Town, the farmer markets of Martinsburg and John Brown's raid in Harpers Ferry. The sleepy yet vibrant village touts a year-round social calendar, including an active film and music scene, a sports calendar that celebrated the university's Division II national runner-up football team in 2015 and abundant Civil War attractions. It is a sliver of a gem ensconced in a state that truly is "wild and wonderful," as the motto proclaims, largely unspoiled by the crush of humanity and stuffed with panoramic mountain views and meadows dotted with livestock and wildlife.

This paneled bedroom with a full bed on the first floor once functioned as the farm office for the VanMetre's dairy and renowned Country Ham business. The knotty pine paneling is said to come from shipping crates that transported milk and dairy products produced on the farm back and forth to the soldiers fighting in Europe in World War I. • Ich war vor einem Jahr bei Donald und Barbara und wollte diesen Januar wiederkommen.
