From our stunning rural setting we offer a varied and exciting programme of arts events and activities. We aim to entertain, inspire, educate and challenge in equal measure. Our packed annual programme includes film, live events, exhibitions, workshops and educational outreach for people of all ages, interests and abilities. We think we are ‘the largest arts centre in the smallest town’ and we know our positive impact is felt across the region.

Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve is rightly proud of being the first dark sky reserve in Europe. Much of the region is free from light pollution and rightly claims to have some of the darkest skies in the country. Also there are pretty villages, wildlife, coasts and Exmoor Zoo to explore.

Sightseeing

Clovelly Estate is home to the Rous family and has been for over 400 years this has helped preserve its originality and atmosphere. The village remains a working fishing village, clinging to a 400 foot cliff, overlooking Bideford Bay. It has no vehicular traffic just donkeys and sledges. Donkeys used to be the main form of transport for centuries. These days the main role for them is to give children rides during the summer or posing for photographs. The man-powered sledges transport all goods to and from the village, from groceries to furniture. Moving house in the village is a very demanding proposition. This might partly explain the generations of families that are living here today.
