A well known destination on the North Devon coast. Lynmouth is the lower town next to the sea and Lynton stands at the top of the cliff, a funicular railway links the two which is a day out in itself

A small traditional harbour just over the moor from Dulverton, a few tourist shops but otherwise not much going on, if driven direct then some great scenery to take in on the way.

Traditionally a seaside town Minehead is famous for being a Butlins destination and so this rubs off on the rest of the town. Not much of a beach but plenty of shops selling holiday related stuff. Also 3 huge supermarkets in very close proximity, Dunster Castle is also 5 minutes out of town.

Dulverton is traditionally a market town though its more recent industry is tourism and seasonal hunting. There are a number of antiques and bookshops worth checking out plus all the usual amenities. The Co-Op supermarket is open until 11pm

Neighbourhoods
The river in River Valley's name is the River Barle which runs from its head near Simonsbath on Exmoor down to Exbridge a few miles south of Dulverton where it then joins the River Exe (before continuing to Exeter and then Exmouth). About 6 miles walk along the river upstream from the camp is Tarr Steps which is an ancient river crossing featuring huge stepping stones. The Barle Valley is designated a "Site of Special Scientific Interest" due to the amount of oxygen loving mosses and lichen species that exist here. A mix of ancient woodland and more recently planted pine forests can be observed around the camp, deer are plentiful and a wide variety of birdlife can be seen and heard.

Famously the only place name with an exclamation mark included as standard, Westward Ho! near Bideford is a large open expansive beach with a pebble ridge seperating it from the nature reserve behind it, great for a stroll or a splash it is popular with surfers windsurfers and kiteboarders

In between Woolacombe and Croyde the lesser known destination of Putsborough is 3 miles of long sandy beach south of Woolacombe which can sometimes find you a slightly less busy destination when those places are where everybody heads to

Often riding through the woods close to the yurt and also the other way up onto the open moor it is usually possible to book a session any day of the week. If you are interested in horse riding then this is highly recommended, ask us for more details.
