Beach’s

Beaches near Chy Pedn
Carbis Bay beach is only a 5 minute walk from Chy Pedn. The beach is very clean, with beautiful turquoise. Some days there are a few waves so the kids can enjoy some body boarding but most days it’s quite calm, perfect for paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming. Boards and kayaks can be rented for £10 an hour from Ocean sports on the beach. There is also a nice bar and restaurant at the Carbis bay hotel (2021 G7 summit venue), in the summer months they sell takeaway pizzas, nice vegetarian burgers and lovely ice creams but it can be quite pricey. Alternatively you can bring your own picnic or enjoy a bbq on the beach. In the winter months we have seen many seals playing in the bay. There are some lovely coastal paths for those who like a walk, one direction takes you to St Ives and the other direction takes you to Kidney beach and Hayle.

A beautiful walk and beach owned by the national trust. Lots of caves on the beach for the kids to go exploring and beautiful calm waters. There is a small cafe where you can get a cream tea, or bacon sandwich.

A favourite with our family, medieval themed restaurant, no thrills, pub grub. Highly recommend the scampi and chips, warning, portions are quite large. Must try the mead wine if you aren’t driving, be careful it’s strong but delicious. Our favourite flavour is blackberry!

A must for seafood lovers. This small restaurant/food bar is a popular venue for locals and tourists. Walk ins only, and there is often a queue that goes over the bridge but it goes down quickly. Love the crab nachos!

Sightseeing

Great place to watch the sun set and if you are lucky you will also spot a few seals sunbathing in mutton cove. It can be a little breezy, so take lots of layers. There is plenty of parking nearby and many walks to go on nearby.

A firm favourite for our family, they always enjoy a trip to the seal sanctuary whenever we are in Cornwall. As well as seeing the seals there is also a nice playing park for the kids and a cafe.

A beautiful sea side harbour, great for crabbing with the kids, going out on a boat trip, shopping and visiting art galleries. With a large choice of restaurants to choose from and only a 5 minute train journey from Chy Pedn. Watch out for the sea gulls in this town, they are pro’s at stealing ice creams and Cornish pasty’s.

Experience

Experiences for you all in and around Cornwall
We went to a 2 hour work shop at the Fermentary, where we got to make and take home our very own Kimchi, Sauerkraut and water Kefir. It was a fantastic experience and the owner who took the class was extremely knowledgable about all the health benefits of these foods and how to make them, giving you the key skills to be able to go home and make them yourself. The masterclass was great value for money and we couldn’t recommend it enough. Highly recommend their range of Kimchi, Sauerkraut and Kefir Water on offer to buy if you don’t fancy getting your hands dirty and use want to buy locally.
