Truly stunning loch perfect for walks, picnic, paddle boarding and wild swimming. Head to Muir of Dinnet visitor car park and chose from 4-mile Loch Kinord circuit or Burn O’Vat to a hidden waterfall.

Climb up to the prominent peak of the Tap o' Noth, site of the second highest hillfort in Scotland. The remains are impressive, and the views over rural Aberdeenshire are superb. It’s a relatively steep climb from the car park, but good trail to the top, 563m elevation.

Set in the Cairngorms National Park in Deeside, great trails for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is an equestrian centre to book a session in advance. The third largest area of Caledonian Forest in Scotland. Get there early on weekends as the small car park fills quickly!

Home to one of the largest tower houses in Scotland, this z-plan castle was completed in 1636. Set in large grounds with plenty of walks, a woodland play area, cafe, donation based book shop and a gift shop (cafe and shops open weekends only).
