The Outhouse Country Cottage

A large, private garden is the perfect place to unwind & enjoy the peace. A short drive from Thropton & Rothbury, you’ll find welcoming pubs, local shops, restaurants & nearby attractions like Cragside & Simonside. With character & personal touches throughout. Our cottage is the perfect base to explore Northumberland’s beauty & heritage.

Stand alone, wild, off-grid woodland pod

300 yards walk across the fields and over 2 stiles, from the car parking area, totally off-grid camping pod, with solar panel for lighting and USB phone charging, a composting loo and gas shower. Situated in a stunning bluebell wood, with breathtaking views of Cheviot, Simonside and the Coquet Valley. The Pod stands alone, with just the abundant wildlife to share the woods with. The pod is very basic with no heating, a 2-ring gas hob and small sink, and a fire pit area with fallen wood for fuel.

NEW for 2025 Outdoor summerhouse Kitchen/Dining/ Music /Aga Heated space for larger groups and longer stays who wish to self cater. This is an optional extra £20 per night if required bookable and payable to host on arrival

Swinburne Castle

Swinburne Castle is perfectly situated within its own beautiful parkland and gardens. Traditionally decorated, parts of the house have tremendous history dating back to the 12th century. The east wing is extremely comfortable and private, and don't be perturbed by the stone steps leading down to the vaulted cellar. A delicious continental breakfast will be provided in your rooms. There is ample parking and a tennis court you are welcome to use. lovely footpaths from the house for keen walkers.

Alnwick Glamping Pods

This stylish Pod is perfectly positioned above Edlingham Vale, with the Simonside hills beyond. Deep in the heart of North Northumberland, amenities in Alnwick and activities are just a 10 minute drive away. Next to the Pod, there is parking for 2 cars. Our Pod overlooks the hilltop Farm Steading of Overthwarts, giving panoramic views of the countryside. With your own private gated entrance, you can come and go as you please or enjoy the views from the comfort of the wood fired Kirami hot tub.

A peaceful rural retreat for couples, with walks from the door and being only a short drive away from the stunning Northumberland National Park and Heritage Coastline AONB. Dene Cottage is in Callaly, a quiet hamlet in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, 2 miles from the picturesque village of Whittingham and conveniently located between the towns of Alnwick and Rothbury (each 15 mins drive away). Nearest pub 5 miles, restaurant 5 miles, shop 5 miles. Public transport (bus) 2 miles away.

'Dragonfly Pod' at Pondihengery Glampsite.

Pondihengery Glampsite is a small family run site in a rural area, just outside Rothbury, Northumberland. The site sits on the edge of a stone circle with stunning views. We welcome up to two well behaved dogs. We are striving to make the accommodation accessible so that everyone can enjoy the wonderful area we call home. We currently have one accessible glamping pod on site 'Dragonfly' with a Shepherds Hut now available. We are sure that you will have a memorable stay and book in again!

Built of natural sandstone by Lord Armstrong of the famous Cragside Estates in the 1870's, Ethie Lodge sleeps up to four people in comfort with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
