The longest wharf in the southern hemisphere. Go out for a walk to the end of it, and join in the local fun by jumping off it, or bring your fishing rod along and try your luck! Then head into the Tolaga Bay township for lunch!
Extending far into the deep water of Tolaga Bay, this wharf is a legendary place to dangle a fishing line. Allow half an hour to walk to the end of the wharf.
An invigorating 30 min scenic walk to the end of New Zealand's longest wharf . 660 metres in length and built in 1929 it has rail tracks for the train to transport wool bales and other freight to ships moored at the end and offload cargo fir the East Coast Residents. It is also an excellent place to catch a fish and has NZ's special Green Lip Mussels growing on the pylons!
