One of the dams that keep Amsterdam dry, already built in the 19th century. A nice route to cycle or to hike. You might like to take the ferry to the North (see the map) and cycle along Nieuwendammerdijk and Schellingwoude to the Oranjesluizen, and continue along the Zuider Ijdijk to the Amsterdamsebrug (the bridge) and return to the Composer's Studio.

Locks between Amsterdam and the IJsselmeer, huge modern lock aside the old sluices, which are still in use, nice walkingpath along the Amsterdamrijnkanaal!
