Beautiful place to visit just before or during the spring, when it's full of flowers. interesting to check the architecture and the history of the local, there's also a museum to visit. The swans in front are an extra show! Make sure you don't eet in the café's around it because they normally charge huge touristic prices. Open every day from 6:30 till 18:30

Founded in 1245 by the Countess of Fland. This is where a group of women that lived like nuns although didn't make the same vows, lived. Today the small 'town' is a series of houses that is serene.

Apparently a must-see for tourists, since hords of them line up at the bridge to have a glance within the walls of this medieval nunnery...

Make sure to walk trough this hidden gem. Small but beautiful beguinage. Entrance is free. The red Baroque gate on Achterburg is impressive, although the view is somewhat spoiled by the hideous contemporary building to the left. In a niche at the top there is a traditional representation of Saint Roch in pilgrim’s garb (hat, cloak, knapsack and staff) lifting his tunic to show a plague sore on his thigh, a dog carrying a loaf in its mouth sitting at his side. Legend has it that Saint Roch caught the plague while attending to plague victims and was saved by a dog who licked his wounds and brought him bread. The gate leads to the first of two atmospheric planted courtyards with a very simple whitewashed chapel in the corner. Close to the wall of the beguinage stands the much smaller chapel of Our Lady of Seven Dolours in Gothic Revival style. Although this beguinage doesn’t have any remarkable old houses – most date from the 19th and 20th century – it still feels like a lovely nostalgic place.
