If you're open to a Ferry trip to Kure Beach, we highly recommend an afternoon at the aquarium! As a kid, I'd come here with my family, and I'm happy to share that it's still excellent!

This is a nice aquarium along the ocean. It is about a 1 - 1.5 hours drive South, but worth the trip.

The entire family will enjoy this “Under The Sea” adventure. Make connections with the natural world at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Feel the smooth skin of a gliding stingray. Spot eels and sharks swimming in the depths. Look an albino alligator in the eye. Wonder at baby sea turtles. Delight in a family of otters playing in a waterfall.
