Pico do Areeiro, at 1,818 m high, is Madeira Island's third highest peak. From the top, visitors can look down on the clouds on most days. The air is fresh and clear and the sun is very bright. On a clear day it is possible to see the neighboring island of Porto Santo, 48 km to the northeast.

A hard walk from this mountain to the highest point in Madeira (Pico Ruivo). A 5 hour walk that needs a guide. You can book with a phone call or just walk into one the several shops around town.

Madeira's most visited high mountain...fantastic views all over the surrounding area, in cloudy days you would be above the clouds.... it connects to a variety of walks and Levadas (water channels). If you do like to be in touch with nature...this is it!...
