Mbare is the oldest surburb in Harare. It is also home to one of the biggest vegetable markets in Harare. If you are not a local, visit to Mbare is best done with a local guide.

Arguably this market is where the pulse of the city lies where it is said you can find anything including the kitchen sink and lots from China. It's a daunting place for foreigners and it is highly recommended that you arrange for a local Zimbabwean to accompany you. Be prepared to haggle for prices. Don't wear valuable jewellery and keep your cash safe. If you're willing to brave it then it will certainly be a memorable experience.
