This still inhabited medieval monastery of St.Francis and the surrounding ancient beech forests are a must-see. Just 1.5 hour walk from the property. At the Sanctuary there is a giftshop and a pilgrim canteen which offers a great fixed menu for a very reasonable price. There is also a great restaurant outside the Sanctuary near the carpark which offers fresh pasta and local delicacies such as truffles and porcini.

La Verna is a monastery on top of a cliff. It is very beautiful and in commemorate on San Francesco. The monks preserve the forest there since centuries, so it’s full of astonishing old trees. There is a circle hike which follows the cliff and is very beautiful to walk.
