Metro is good and 2min away from the flat but VELIB is the way to go. it's cheap and the best way to discover Paris is you are not afraid of cycling in Town. Assert yourself on the road and it should be fine

Metro stop line 7 : goes across Paris North to South. Will take you to Le marais in only 4 stops and to metro hub Chatelet-Les Halles in 5 stops.
