Enter at the 8th avenue side for Amtrak gates and arrive a little early if you're two or more people so you can get seats together. Don't wait for the track to be announced, head to track 5 and you'll see a blue sign with train numbers going to Albany or beyond. If there are two lines, get in the longer line; the shorter one is going to Canada. If it's daytime, sit on the left side for views of the river.
