Pretty renaissance castle, interesting to visit. Pleasant walk around the golf course. Nearby, gourmets can treat themselves to the restaurant "Les 3 soleils", starred in the Michelin guide, or to the restaurant "L'informel", simpler, but also very pleasant.

An incredible moment in the history of the Chateau de Montal: the Mona Lisa painting was hidden there during World War II, from March 1943 to June 1945, along with hundreds of other paintings from the Louvre. Un moment incroyable et historique dans le château de Montal : la Joconde s'est réfugiée ici pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale avec des centaines d'autres tableaux. Le Louvre avait été évacué pour éviter les pillages allemands. Un déménagement gigantesque raconté dans un documentaire, La guerre du Louvre. Après un passage à Chambord, la Joconde et plus de mille autres tableaux arrivent ici à Montal, le 13 mars 1943. L'oeuvre de Leonard de Vinci retrouvera sa place au Louvre le 15 juin 1945.
