Best herring in town! Dare to eat it like a local: grab it by the tail, lift it and let it slide into your mouth... (a real local doesn't take the onions, but hey, we can be forgiving; onoins can be nice!). P.S. be carefull of the seagulls; before you know it, your fish is gone!

After trying many different herring stalls around the Netherlands, this one is hands-down the best one I've ever had. Both local's and tourist's favourite. Despite tourists' visits, they remain consistent in the quality of their product. 1. Ask for cured herring (or "haring" in Dutch) with onions and pickles. Tip your head up, drop the herring into your mouth. That's the authentic way of trying herring for the first time. 2. Ask for "kibbeling", fried cod fish, with any sauce you like on the side. Garlic sauce never fails me.

If it's your first time in The Netherlands, people might say you might try the Dutch fish snacks. This is a famous one with great fish quality/taste. Two must-try items are Haring and Kibbeling.
